Cloth Media Disc Filter

Cloth Media Disc Filter

The cloth media disc filter is an advanced treatment system that combines microfiltration, solid-liquid separation, and online cleaning. This fiber disc filter is utilized for municipal wastewater treatment plant upgrading and retrofitting, industrial effluent advanced tertiary treatment, reclaimed water reuse and recycling pretreatment, landscape water purification, rainwater recovery, and river and lake ecological remediation. Installed after secondary treatment, the cloth media filtration system provides further removal of suspended solids (SS) and total phosphorus (TP) for applications requiring improved effluent quality.

The cloth media disc filter operates using gravity flow. Wastewater passes from the outside to the inside of the filter discs, where suspended solids are retained on the outer surface, and filtered water exits through the central collection pipe. When the differential pressure across the cloth reaches the preset value, the discs slowly rotate and vacuum suction nozzles conduct online backwashing without interrupting the filtration.

Note:

  • The above parameters are design values based on standard operating conditions which can be customized and adjusted according to the quality of the influent water and the effluent discharge standards;
  • The number of filter discs and filtration precision can be customized as needed, and the civil engineering tank structure can be specially designed based on on-site project conditions, with construction drawings provided;
Structure
  • Filter basin: Open-top carbon steel or concrete basin that receives the influent and effluent, as well as houses the disc assembly.
  • Central drum: Rotates the filter discs and also doubles as the effluent collection pipe.
  • Cloth media discs: Mounted vertically on the central drum and covered with high-porosity polyester fiber cloth for fine filtration.
  • Backwash system: Negative-pressure suction nozzles that clean retained solids from the filter cloth surface.
  • Sludge discharge system: Bottom sludge hopper and discharge pump that periodically removes concentrated sludge.
  • Automatic control system: Level sensors supporting automatic filtration and backwashing.
